Every type of tool on the market today is available in a range of styles and prices. Mitre saws are no different. At the cheapest end of the market you have the most basic mitre saws that have a limited range of features. They are also less likely to be of a recognised branded make. At the more expensive end you have the brand name saws as well as those that are designed to do many more things. A good example of this is the compound mitre saw.
As you would expect, this saw is capable of doing lots of things for you. Thus if you are regularly doing a wide range of DIY jobs you will probably benefit from having one of these saws to use rather than a more basic and much cheaper one.
A compound mitre saw can be pivoted in order to allow for many more types of cuts to be made. If you find you need to make a wide range of angled cuts for various jobs you have in mind, a compound saw is probably the best one to get. As such it is worth paying more money to get one, because no other type of mitre saw is likely to give you the range of cuts that you need.
If you are shopping for your first mitre saw it is very important to think about what you will need it for in the future. For example if you know you will need a highly versatile saw right from the start, buy a compound saw now. If you think you will only need a basic mitre saw, buy a basic one with the idea of potentially upgrading it to a compound version in the future. Obviously you want to be sure you buy the right one straightaway, but there is little point in spending lots of money now if you won’t need a more complex and versatile saw until much later on.
Think about how you will use your saw when you buy it. Which one will be perfect for you?
