Here is a question for you – would you buy your partner a Bosch mitre saw for Christmas?
Some would say that buying household tools is not the done thing for the festive season. It does seem a little odd. It’s almost akin to buying a woman a set of kitchen utensils. Some things are acceptable, such as a nice cheese board with a matching set of knives. But you wouldn’t get a set of saucepans. Similarly you might resort to getting a quirky pocket tool with a number of different screwdrivers and items on it. But a mitre saw doesn’t seem to hit the mark somehow.
But is this because of the pressures we put on ourselves to buy the perfect Christmas presents? Some of us seem to think that the best Christmas present we could buy would be a complete surprise to those opening it. But in reality wouldn’t it be better to get gifts we know people would like?
Take the Bosch mitre saw for example. Let’s say you really want one for Christmas but your partner decides to get you something else instead. The something else might be just fine, but if you need a mitre saw you’ll still have to go out and buy one after Christmas instead. This means you could end up spending more money than you would have done if your partner had got you what you wanted in the first place.
A mitre saw might be an unusual gift from Santa, but surely it would make sense to get something useful that you know you will use in the future. So many of us end up getting things we don’t really want or need. Yet there are things we would really like that we somehow think won’t be suitable for popping under the tree. So why don’t we just go for the things we’d really like so we don’t waste our money and we are all satisfied?
Just be sure that if you do get the mitre saw you want this festive season, you don’t start using it until the holidays are over!
